   Except he didn’t say it. Setting aside the fact that I seriously doubt anyone was worrying about the world’s forests before 1948 (even Gandhi), it is actually correctly attributed to Chris Maser in his book ‘Forest Primeval: The Natural History of an Ancient Forest’.
